Aion 4.8 has ten classes that grow from four base archetypes: warrior (Templar, Gladiator), scout (Assassin, Ranger), mage (Sorcerer, Spiritmaster) and priest (Cleric, Chanter). Each has its own style: tanks soak damage, assassins and rangers deliver burst, mages hit areas, while the cleric and buffer are irreplaceable in groups.

For an easy start, beginners do well with the Templar (a sturdy tank that forgives mistakes) and the Cleric (always wanted in groups and instances). If you love aggressive PvP, look at the Assassin and the Sorcerer — high burst, but they die fast too. The Spiritmaster shines through pets and control, while the Chanter is a hybrid that both fights and heals.
